The Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) in Massachusetts has multiple offices around the state, including one full-service office in Boston, The Haymarket RMV Service Center.
This office is one of 16 RMV service centers in the state located in cities including Braintree, Lowell, Worcester, Springfield, and Wilmington.
In addition, Massachusetts RMV works in conjunction with the Automobile Association of America (AAA) to offer limited RMV services at designated AAA locations, including the Massachusetts RMV in Boston.
Haymarket Registry of Motor Vehicles in Boston
The Haymarket RMV Service Center is located in downtown Boston, just north of Boston City Hall at 136 Blackstone Street in zip code area 02109.
The office does not have onsite parking, but street parking on Blackstone and adjacent streets is available, and the large, 24-hour Government Center Garage on Sudbury Street is located one block to the West of the Haymarket RMV Service Center.
At the Haymarket RMV Service Center, customers can conduct most motor vehicle and driver’s license transactions including:
• Vehicle title document transactions
• Payments for suspended licenses
• Driver road testing
• Written RMV testing
• Suspension hearings
• Vehicular related medical affairs
Massachusetts RMV Hours: Hours of service at the Haymarket RMV office are from 9 AM to 5 PM for driver’s license applications, vehicle registration transactions, and suspension payments.
Learners permit tests Class A, B, and C licenses are available until 3 PM and until 4 PM for Class D and M licenses.
Hearings regarding suspended licenses are available on a walk-in basis weekdays from 9 am to 4:30 pm. Plan to arrive early and be available for several hours to allow time for the hearing and transaction of any other RMV business needed to reinstate your license. When the hearing room is especially busy, staff may close it for the day to further walk-ins.
Handicap accessible parking is available near the entrance to the Haymarket RMV Service Center, and MBTA bus stops and subway stations are also nearby.

Boston RMV Services Available at AAA Offices
Thirty-four branches of AAA in Massachusetts also provide limited RMV services for AAA members. The Boston AAA office is located at 125 High Street, zip code 02110. The office is open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM. There is no on-site parking, but public parking and transport are available nearby.
At the AAA office, you can:
• Renew class D (passenger) and class M (motorcycle) driver’s licenses
• Get a replacement driver’s license
• Renew vehicle registration
• Replace a vehicle title document
• Get a replacement Massachusetts ID card
When paying for RMV services at the Boston AAA office, you can use a credit or debit card, cash, money order, or personal check made payable to AAA.
