Now, you just need to pass the written and vision exams at your local DPS office. Upon successfully completing these exams, you are issued an instructional permit, which allows you to drive while being supervised by a licensed driver over 21-years-old. If you are at least 16 years old, after having held your instructional permit for 6 months and completing 30 hours of supervised driving with a licensed driver over 21, you can apply for the road test and get your driver's license.
