What You Need to Get Your Learners Permit in Florida
If you're under 18 and haven’t had a driver's license before, you need a learner’s license (or permit) first, which allows limited driving. In Florida, to obtain a learner’s permit, you must be at least 15 years old and provide:
- A signed and notarized Parental Consent Form (if under 18)
- Proof of identity, residential address, social security number
- Completion of the TLSAE Florida Drug & Alcohol course
- Pass hearing and vision tests
- Score 80% or higher on the Class E knowledge permit exam (40 correct answers out of 50)

Step 2: Fill out the Parent Proctoring Form and get it notarized by a driver's license examiner. This extra step is required only if you take the permit test online.
Step 3: Log into your account and take the permit test. It is a proctored test, meaning a parent needs to be present when you take the exam.
Step 4: We automatically send your test results to Florida Driver & Vehicle Services and drivers license offices.
Step 5: Once you pass, bring your proof of social security number, residential address, and ID to the nearest drivers license office to pick up your new learners permit!
