How to Take Florida Driver’s Ed Online (Updated for 2025)

Florida driver’s ed is now fully available online—making it easier than ever to meet state requirements from the comfort of home. Teens under 18 now need the new DETS course, while adults 18+ can still take the 4-hour TLSAE. Learn which course fits your age group and what to expect next when it’s time to take your permit test or hit the road.

New for Teens Under 18: DETS is Required

If you're under 18, the 4-hour TLSAE course is no longer valid after June 30, 2025. You must now complete the 6-hour Driver Education Traffic Safety (DETS) course.

  • 100% online and state-approved

  • Includes a mandatory final exam (50 questions, 80% to pass)

  • Mobile-friendly and built for real-world driving prep

For Adults 18+: TLSAE Still Applies

If you’re 18 or older and getting your first license, you can still take the 4-hour TLSAE (Drug and Alcohol Course) online.

  • Log in anytime, from anywhere

  • Course auto-saves your progress

  • Completion certificate sent electronically
