I did not read comments in this site before enrolling. I wanted to share my experience, now that I have passed the driving test. Emmitt, as few other people suggested here, was more conversational I was trying hard to concentrate on the road at times. When I told him that I am ready last friday, he asked me to drive around but he was more strict than usual - no chit-chats but pure business and pointed out my mistakes very acutely and sometimes i felt that I wasn't ready for the exam. Once we reached DMV office, he asked me if i am ready. I insisted that I am and I feel like giving the test. It was all good then - i gave the test and passed. He suggested to me that he wanted me to visualise him as the examiner and strictly abide by the rules. He also told me that even when there are disturbances, one should be able to concentrate on the road (which made me realise his conversations and me trying hard to concentrate). I did not ask him directly if these were his tactics to make drivers concentrate more and make them be prepared for scenarios, but you never know the strategy. One for sure, is that Emmitt is a great teacher and a very upright person.

You need to remove the comments by Juan Miguel Artigas. They are insulting to people with disabilities. I do not want to hear his opinion until he can express himself without being hurtful to others.

After been told by everybody that I drive horrible and that I was never going to pass the driving test, I went to look for help. I just took 3 hours of lessons plus 1 more to take the driving test (because I just had $180 to spend in classes) with Emmit and passed THE DRIVING TEST AT THE FIRST TRY! Emmit is a great teacher, now I can enyoy having my driving license and tell my family that I passed the test at the first try in their faces!! I think that the people who wrote NEGATIVE reviews about Emmit, forgot to take their prescription drugs for ADD, Down syndrome, or some other learning incapacity before taking the courses with Emmit (or provably they are just retards) This 3 hours of lessons where the most informative, satisfactory and rich driving experience ever! MONEY WELL EXPENDED.

Emitt was a very good teacher. I disagree with the other comments. He was very informative and got me my license in only 3 lessons!!! He talks about other subjects to break the ice, and to get to know his students a little better...that's all. It's harmless. And, as soon as I felt ready to take the test, he took that same day!!! I didn't even schedule that day to be a driving exam day, it was a lesson and he just said, "lets go." I would recommend this school to anyone who was interested. It was money well spent in my opinion.

What sufferer has written is so true.I agree 100%.Emit does charge you less than others but he talks more of the world around us than what he is supposed to teach us ....driving.He talks and talks endlessly about topics we are not interested in.Wastes our money and time by distracting us from the road and engaging us in conversations about other things. This happens everytime you go with him.I wish i could just plaster his mouth with a glue.He does not teach the controls and blames you if you do not know that or if you fail the exam for not knowing that.To pass an exam takes at least 10 classes with him as a beginner and with each class you become frustrated and this guy becomes unbearable. He takes you around to fill gas in his tank, and it is your time and money that is getting wasted. While driving he will talk about this and that restaurant he eats at,his favorite foods,blah,blah,blah.... Seriously do not waste your money going to archway driving school.Emit is such an irritating teacher, truly gets on your nerves. And he is getting worse day by day. Please look elsewhere for a better teacher. This guy emitt is a loser.

Beware!!! Do not waste your time and money with him. I am telling this by experience and mainly to people who are new to driving. 1) He charges less than others, but he makes sure he takes you to more classes. He never takes us to the driving test after a few classes, though we feel confident. He gives lame reasons. Indirectly he is getting more money out of you. 2) Speaks continuously to distract you. You can’t concentrate on the driving ,when you are in the learning stage. 3) Hard to get him on phone. I wasted one month to just contact him on phone !!!!! And even if you get, he is busy to teach you at your desired timing. 4) Did not teach the car basic functions. One of my friend failed just because she was not able to show the car control buttons (like high beam, defroster) when taking the test. Again his strategy to make you fail and take you again for classes and get more money Beware!! Do not go for him. I am writing this out of my own and my friends experience. Points to concentrate when selecting an instructor and taking the test. 1) Plan properly. If you start taking the classes, try to get the license soon. Do not postpone. When there is a big gap between the classes, it takes time to adjust again to the car, road etc. 2) Select a good instructor. Check if you are able to understand his accent well, makes you comfortable and talks less ( When I mean less, the unwanted topics other than the car, road and the instructions)
