What do you need to do as a new resident driver in the state of Pennsylvania? Well, there are quite a few things that you should know.

If you are new to the state and you plan to drive, you have 60 days from the time you establish residency to obtain a Pennsylvania drivers license. In order to apply, you must:

  • Submit your request in person at any DVS center.
  • Show proof of residency and the proper identification.
  • Surrender your out-of-state license if still valid (or expired within the previous six months).
  • Pay the required fee.

Proper identification documents for U.S. citizens include (documents must be valid and original):

  • A birth certificate with a raised seal.
  • A certificate of U.S. citizenship or a certificate of naturalization.
  • A valid U.S. passport.
  • A U.S. Military ID card with photo.
  • A Pennsylvania drivers license or ID card.
