I took a road test yesterday at Academy and was very satisfied. The people who work there were very professional and courteous. I think some people write bad comments if they don't do well on the test - and then try to blame others. Oh well. I would recommend going there to all my friends.

My first son went to this school and we were very satisfied. I am getting read to sign my last son up for his road test with this school. I was very happy with the class, staff and experience. The only reason my last son didn't attend this school this year, is because a different school came into GOodrich schools. BUT... I am going to use them for the road test. They are very considerate and make sure that your child does belong behind the wheel of a car. Thank GOD !!

this was an awsome corse! the classes were easy, and all the instructors are so nice~ but kyle defanly made it so hard to consentrate on the road because he so hot~!~ (so ill give them an 4)

Academy is a load. They think that they're better than their students. They are snide and if you read these reviews, it seems like they insult you if you have a complaint. But because they are one of the few schools in Lapeer, they think that customer service isn't important. If there was, they'd be out of business pretty quickly. They're a bunch of self-centered clowns. I wish that I'd have gone to Mills.

Academy Driving School has totally copied off of the Mills Driving School Web Site. Check out the FAQ sections of both pages. Then check the copyright dates. What a joke! How lame are they? They brag that they've been around so long, well then how come you copy off all the new comers? Get a life! My brother went to Academy, and hated it. I went with Mills and it rocked.

I was finished when my review was turned into a forum and message board by Academy's associates, then they had my review erased. I'm surprised that they'd be so duplicitous to have a negative review removed, and I'm determined to express my opinion. This is an honest review based upon my experiences with Academy Driving. I have not been encouraged by anyone to post this (unlike the slew of positive responses which are made at the urging of the school itself). The review: I recently attended Academy Driving and had a very unpleasant experience with the woman who gives the driving tests. I don't know her name, she is fairly short in stature, heavyset and has a nose ring (this description isn't intended to be insulting -- I'm merely giving a description of her in lieu of her name). She was rude from the moment I showed up to the time I left. She acted as if I was lucky to be given an audience with her. Every word that came out of her mouth had a nasty tone of impatient condescension, every question was sharp and unbelievably rude. There was no reason for it. I was completely taken aback by this attitude. Not only was she in a position of authority, but she was taking money from me and still behaving in this way. After this, I submitted a review on this website. It was an honest review. Then the school, seeing this negative review, encouraged a bunch of students and employees to come on with positive reviews -- look at the pattern...whenever anyone posts a negative review, there are several positive reviews to counter it. This is more than a coincidence, it is encouraged by the school, which smacks of dishonesty. Afterwards, Tim Chappell posted a couple of times, saying I shouldn't be rude in turn to the Academy tester, and that I should 'rise above'. Later he said that she was 'having a bad day' and I should extend a kindness of understanding to her. Even though they took money from me, even though I was a customer, I should tolerate abject rudeness? I'm amazed at this attitude -- does Academy Driving really think that it's above professional behavior and ethics? Does Mr. Chappell really believe that the employees of Academy are within their rights to be rude and unprofessional to customers (and everyone who attends is a customer -- this is something Academy should keep in mind with everyone who walks through their door). Should I 'rise above' and accept completely unwarranted rude behavior even though I have paid money to your school? Would you pay money to a store, be treated rudely and inappropriately, and then smile and say thank you? Ridiculous. Academy Driving is a school of cliquish behavior -- they feel more responsibility to their employees than they do the students (CUSTOMERS) that pay money to go there. In my case, they took my money, treated me rudely, and, upon complaining via review, was essentially told 'be nice to us' regardless of the fact that they were the ones who were rude and they were the ones who took money from me without a moment's thought of customer courtesy. There, that is my review. Again, it is honest and reflects my feelings about Academy Driving. I don't wish them harm or ill will, just regret at the treatement I received from them. Considering the much-talked-about Vocation of one of the instructors, I would expect more concern, integrity and especially honesty. Again, I'm finished. Erase it again and I'll post it again. The unfortunate thing is that now Academy is going to encourage their students to post a bunch of positive reviews to counter this review, probably turning it into an insult-fest again. Their choice. But I would hope that Academy, instead of going on the defensive and trying to create a less-than-honest appearance of student loyalty, would look at their own practices and emerge a better, more customer-appreciative business, with a premium on honesty and intent upon creating a reputation of integrity (rather than one based upon solicited 'positive' reviews).
